A peer group is both a social group and a primary group of people who have similar interests, age, background, and social status. Sometimes teens are so desperate to be accepted by a group of peers, that they join a negative peer group, in spite of that groups poor choices and unfruitful behaviors.
Due to the great influence a culture of peers has on a teenage boy or girl, it is pivotal, for the sake of their prospective future, to choose to associate with supportive, positive influences. If a teen aspires to achieve any level of success, it is imperative for them to choose to be a part of a peer culture that supports and nurtures their aspirations. This kind of peer culture can be a key factor in a teen's foundation of success.
The term, peers, refers to a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status. A Teen's choice of peers, or group of people an adolescent associates with, is a major part of their life. A teenager's peer group has more influence on the individual teen than probably any other relationship he/she has in their life.
Peers of an adolescent can either be a positive or negative influence. If a teen surrounds themselves with supportive, productive and optimistic group of adolescents, they will, themselves, be able to share a similar positive attitude, ultimately improving and furthering their lives. However, if a teenage boy or girl chooses to associate with a negatively influential group of peers, they are almost certain to share the same negative attitudes and behaviors, ultimately stunting their production and potential.
It is crucial for parents to recognize whether or not their teen is choosing negative influences as their group of peers. Parents of teens should explain to their child why associating with certain peer groups can adversely effect, not only today, but quite literally, destroy their entire future.

- Poor Grades
A poor grade is a substandard performance in an activity, usually academic, in which an individual is graded on. There is a variety of reasons and circumstances an individual receives a poor grade. Poor grades may be the result of a variety of factors including, the individual suffers from a mental deficiency, lack of understanding, poor teaching educator, lack of motivation or is dealing with personal issues which, in turn, affects their performance in school or workplace.
Poor grades prove to be a continuous and prevalent issue among troubled teens. Troubled teens rarely receive poor grades due to their lack of cognitive prowess. Generally speaking, troubled teens are fully capable of earning sufficient grades in academics, but consciously choose not to put forth the necessary effort needed to do so.

Building and strengthening the bond of a positive relationship consequently strengthens both parties, not only as companions, but individually as well.
As positive relationships promote a healthy, productive lifestyle, contrariwise, a negative relationship can deteriorate the life of an individual. Furthermore, it is critical for individuals engaging in negative relationships to cut ties with the negative influence.
To summarize, it is critical for individuals to recognize the difference between positive relationships, which promote balance and support in a person's life, as opposed to negative ones, which deteriorate and undermine the overall productivity of an individual.
Pre-Algebra is the name of a course that is generally taken in middle school math, although sometimes it is taught as early as third grade for gifted students. For homeschool taught students, pre-algebra can be taught anywhere from 8 years old to 17 years, depending on the child's mathematic ability.
Pre-algebra is a preparatory course designed to prepare students for the more advanced, upcoming course of algebra. Pre- algebra is crucial, as it is the foundation of all advanced high school mathematics. Without the foundation of pre- algebra, students may fall behind and fail to ever reach academic requirements needed to graduate high school.

Without pre-calculus, a student may be ill-prepared for calculus which could then overwhelm the individual. This unready advancement may then discourage the student from putting forth an effort in mathematics altogether, reducing their chances of meeting academic goals or ambitions.

- Proactive mindset
A proactive mindset is one's ability to make proactive decisions as opposed to reactive decisions. If an individual has a proactive mindset, they will prepare and work on ways in which they can improve their future.
Unfortunately, troubled teens tend to struggle implementing a proactive mindset. Rather than think of what the future holds, they live in the 'here and now.' Troubled adolescents only care about how they feel at the moment, and, therefore, are unlikely to be prepared for obstacles and adversities hat lie ahead. Due to their lack of concern for their future, troubled teens are more susceptible to negative behaviors that provide instant gratification, even if that instant gratification destroys prospects and opportunities that may lie ahead.
