Alissa Brown Swenson

CSW

Growing up Alissa always felt drawn to helping others and found much joy and growth in doing so. This desire of helping others led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in Social Work at Utah State University. While at USU Alissa worked as a direct care staff at a Residential Treatment Center for teens. Alissa fell in love working with adolescents. Alissa believes that “if we can help adolescents find their strengths and help them overcome barriers in their life, we can help them change the trajectory of their lives.”

Alissa graduated with her Bachelors in Social Work from Utah State University and went on to pursue a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Brigham Young University. While at BYU Alissa earned a certificate in Trauma-informed practice on top of her degree. Alissa is trained in CBT, ABA, Motivational Interviewing, and is continuing her training in DBT. Alissa also is working on getting trained in EMDR.

Alissa specializes in trauma-informed practice, anxiety, depression, behavior, communication, self-worth, and working with the LGBTQ population. Alissa has worked in various treatment centers from psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, day treatment programs, and residential treatment centers.

In her spare time, Alissa enjoys going on hikes and walks with her dog and husband. In the summer you will find her at the lake every weekend wakeboarding, wake surfing, tubing, and spending time with family.
