Erica Yaeger - Recreation Specialist

Erica Yaeger

Recreation Director, TRS, CTRS

Erica experienced the healing power of Recreation Therapy firsthand as an adolescent and felt called to pursue a career in the field. She attended the University of Utah and has worked with adults in addiction recovery, adolescents with autism, and in crisis management. In 2018 Erica received the Utah Recreation Therapy Associations Most Outstanding Program award for her work at Brighton Recovery Center and published research with the University of Utah on positive psychology and substance use disorder treatment. Erica is passionate about the outdoors and spends her free time rock climbing, snowboarding, canyoneering and backpacking with her husband and two dogs.

Being in nature requires a level of authenticity that cannot be avoided or faked. It brings out the best and the worst and lays it in front of us. It offers us the opportunity to discover what we are capable of and challenge what we perceive to be possible. The hike is hard, and the sense of accomplishment standing on the peak is a feeling everyone is able to experience when we strap on our hiking boots and step outside our comfort zone.” -Erica
