Sandy Schoepke

Recreation Specialist

Sandy obtained her bachelors in Biology with a concentration in Neuroscience from Colby College in 2020. It was there that she realized not only her passion for the inner workings of the brain, but her interest in how therapy and treatment can help to change them for the better. After school, Sandy became a Wilderness Therapy Guide where she worked with teenagers and young adults struggling with a variety of socio-emotional challenges such as addiction, depression, anxiety, those on the autism spectrum, etc. While a part of Wilderness Therapy, she led an assortment of activities such as backpacking, climbing, rappelling, mountain biking and skiing. Executing these activities with her students showed Sandy how empowering outdoor recreation can be for those in treatment, and her love for the outdoors grew even more. Sandy is currently the lead of our rock-climbing unit. She lives in Salt Lake City and mostly spends her free time trail running and climbing.
