Why Elevations is Inclusive Of All Genders
CREATING NORMAL, REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCES
Elevations is a residential treatment center that works with students of all genders. We believe the interaction between students of all genders in a nurturing, supportive, therapeutic environment is the best way for teens to understand how to build healthy relationships.
In the real world people of all genders will interact. Normalizing this experience is critical to our student’s long term success; therefore, we feel it is vital for our students to experience the “real world” in the Elevations environment.
My Child Struggles with Other Genders
Your child is not alone.
These challenges may be social in nature—a teen doesn’t know how to engage with other genders, gets intimidated or anxious. Some of this is normal while too much of this can be debilitating to confidence and inhibit the ability to form meaningful friendships.
These challenges with the other genders might be a result of poor decision-making and unhealthy relationships. Sometimes this may be teens having risky or inappropriate relationships. Rather than “running” from these challenges, we believe it is incredibly useful for our students to understand how to develop normal relationships while in a supportive environment like Elevations.
It is our clinical belief that the best way for our students to have healthy and happy relationships with themselves and others is to practice creating those relationships in our nurturing environment.
This is why Elevations is inclusive of all genders.
